The Pediatric and Mobility Center is geared towards kids, but grown-ups are welcome too. Our staff and facility are certified by the American Board for Certification and fully trained in both adult and pediatric care.

Orthotic treatment in Pediatric Care is a highly specialized area of practice. It requires the very best from our clinical staff to meet the unique and challenging demands presented in musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders. At the Pediatric and Mobility Center, our staff combines years of experience at renowned institutions like Detroit Children’s Hospital, Detroit Institute for Children, as well as multiple clinics and school programs. Our staff is frequently asked to lecture and teach orthotic evaluation and application in the realm of pediatric care. For them, it’s more than a job working with children, it’s their passion.

We believe in a full team approach working with parents, doctors, physical therapists, occupational therapists and caregivers. This approach vastly improves the understanding of potential concerns and clearly defined goals resulting in successful outcomes. Because we often see our kids over a period of years, we come to know them and their families on a personal level. The bond of genuine care that develops strengthens our resolve to do what we can to improve their quality of life. This leads to follow-up care and servicing the on-going needs of our patients. Our clinical and support staff approaches the service aspect with a true sense of urgency. Orthotic concerns expressed by the patients and their families, or any member of the health care team, are addressed immediately with action steps taken.

When choosing an orthotist you should be aware of the following:
  • Years of experience in pediatric care
  • ABC certification
  • Understanding of biomechanics and proper evaluation techniques leading to optimum brace selection
  • Ability to interact and relate well with children and parents
  • Having patience, compassion and the ability to listen to others
  • Availability for follow-up concerns with action taken in a timely fashion

As advocates for your child, you want to ask questions like these when selecting your orthotist. At the Pediatric and Mobility Center, we’ve selected our entire staff based on this criteria. Our center was designed with kids in mind. We hope you’ll come and discover it for yourself!
