CO Care of Oxygen Tubing
nasalcannula.jpgIn order to maintain standards of cleanliness as well as provide optimal comfort, you will need to clean and change your tubing and cannula on a regular schedule. If needed, we recommend that once or twice a day you remove the cannula and wipe it with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use any alcohol or petroleum based products on or near your cannula.
• The nasal cannula needs to be discarded and replaced every two weeks.
• The oxygen supply tubing, any length, needs to be discarded and replaced every 90 days.

Humidifier bottles should not be used with a portable oxygen system! If the system is tipped over, water will run through the tubing into the patients’ nose and could lead to drowning.

Tubing, cannulas, connectors or any other oxygen accessories are disposable items that are included with your set-up. We recommend that you keep a three to six month supply of these disposable items on hand. These items are stocked on all delivery vehicles and can be obtained during any regular delivery.
