TROUBLE
PROBABLE CAUSE
REMEDY
No oxygen seems to be flowing from your system.
Supply tubing has a kink or blockage.
Cannula, humidifier bottle or barbed nipple adapter is not connected tightly.
Decreased awareness of oxygen flow.
Place the end of your cannula in a small glass of water and look for a steady flow of bubbles. If you do not see any bubbles coming from the cannula, check the full length of your tubing to ensure there are no kinks or obstructions. Also check all connections between the cannula and the machine to ensure that everything is secure.
Machine is not operating, alarm sounds/power failure.
Plug not firmly in wall outlet.
Check plug at wall outlet.
No power at wall outlet.
Check the power source (home fuse or circuit breaker). The outlet is controlled by a wall switch that has been switched off. Try a different outlet in another room.
Concentrator circuit breaker has been tripped.
Turn the power switch of the concentrator off. Push in the reset button and turn the power switch back on. If the circuit breaker trips again, move the machine to another room, reset and start again.
Electrical power outage.
Use backup oxygen system until the power can be restored. You may need to go somewhere that power is available (friend/relative, hotel, community center).
Unable to dial prescribed flow rate.
Obstruction in cannula.
Disconnect cannula from tubing. If the proper flow rate is restored or the indicator ball jumps to the top of the flow meter, replace with a new cannula.
Obstruction in tubing.
Disconnect tubing from the barbed nipple adapter or humidifier bottle. If the proper flow rate is restored or the indicator ball jumps to the top of the flow meter, check the entire length of tubing for kinks or knots and replace if needed.
Obstructed humidifier bottle.
Disconnect the humidifier from the concentrator. If the proper flow rate is restored or the indicator ball jumps to the top of the flow meter, replace with a new humidifier bottle. If not available, use a barbed nipple adapter.
