Phototherapy Safety Precautions
Photo Therapy Safety PrecautionsYour phototherapy unit is very safe to use when used properly. If there is any portion of this manual that you do not understand, consult with your doctor or contact your local Wright & Filippis office.

  • Never place the phototherapy unit in a position above the baby. If the unit should fall and strike the baby, it could result in serious injury.
  • Never place the phototherapy unit in or around water.
  • If the illuminator box falls into water or if liquid is spilled on it, unplug the unit before touching it and contact Wright & Filippis.
  • Do not use the phototherapy unit while bathing the baby.
  • Plug the unit directly into the wall outlet.
  • Never use extension cords or power strips.
  • Do not attempt to perform any repairs or modifications on your phototherapy unit.
  • Improper repairs or unauthorized modifications could be hazardous.
  • Do not leave the phototherapy unit turned on when the fiber optic panel is not wrapped around the baby.
  • Do not allow the illuminator box to come into contact with flammable substances, such as anesthetics or cleaning chemicals.
  • Never place the illuminator box on a mattress, blanket, carpet or other soft, flammable surface.
  • Do not walk with the baby while using the phototherapy unit.
  • When plugging the unit into a wall outlet, route the cord in a manner in which it will not become a tripping hazard.
  • Never cover the illuminator box with anything.
  • Do not use the unit if the cord or plug becomes damaged.
  • Use the phototherapy unit only as prescribed.
  • Do not use the phototherapy unit within 10 feet of any source of concentrated oxygen.
