Phototherapy Unit Setup
Setting Up the Phototherapy Unit
  1. Find an appropriately grounded electrical outlet near the location where the baby will be sleeping. Plug the illuminator box directly into the wall outlet. Do not use any extension cords or power strips .
  2. Phototherapy Unit SetupPlace the box in the horizontal position resting on all four rubber feet on a flat, hard surface no higher than the level of the baby. The best surface is a hard chair or table placed next to the baby’s bed. The illuminator box should never be placed in the crib, basinet or on a bed. Using it on a soft surface such as these could restrict air flow, causing the unit to overheat and become a fire hazard.
  3. Phototherapy Unit SetupConnect the light panel to the illuminator box by grasping the metal end of the fiber optic cable and inserting it into the opening on the front of the machine. Make sure the guide pin is facing up and is aligned with the vertical mark located above the hole. After inserting the cable end, turn the cable 1/4 turn clockwise to lock it in place.
  4. Lay the light panel down with the white side facing up and the silver side down. Slide one of  the T-shaped panel cover vests over the panel with the white semi-transparent side facing up and the yellow opaque side facing down. Slide the panel all the way to the top of the vest. Secure the cover to the panel by wrapping the bottom of the cover around the fiber optic cable and secure it using the adhesive strips on the cover.

Do not attempt to alter the vest, such as cutting it in half. The sleeve should cover the entire light panel in order to properly protect the baby.

Change the vest when it becomes soiled or wet.
