FirstToServe.com - Preparing Your Home for an Apnea Monitor

There are some special preparations that need to be made, in addition to the usual adjustments when bringing a baby home. You should follow these guidelines:

  • Place the monitor on a sturdy shelf, out of the reach of children.
  • Do not place the monitor near a radio or TV -- it may cause interference.
  • Keep a clear pathway to the baby's room.
  • Keep a clipboard, pen and event sheets by your baby's crib.
  • Keep a flashlight near the crib to check the baby when the alarm sounds.
  • You should put a phone in the baby's room in case of emergency.
