FirstToServe.com - Using Humidifiers

Most of the time, a humidifier is not needed if your oxygen is on a low flow rate. If you do require a humidifier, please follow these guidelines for use:

  • Only fill humidifier bottle with distilled water – not tap water.
  • Change the water every 24 hours.
  • When you refill the bottle, only fill it up half way.
  • After refilling, place the cannula prongs in a glass of water. If your machine is working properly, the water will bubble.
  • If you use pre-filled humidifiers, discard after use. Do not refill.
