FirstToServe.com - Using a Concentrator

Plug cord into a grounded electrical outlet. If you only have a 2-prong outlet, use a 3-prong adapter and attach to the outlet by using a grounding screw at the center of the plate.

Press the On/Off switch to the ON position. The alarm may sound until the proper pressure is reached.

Adjust the flow to your prescribed level. If you are using a flow meter, the line matching your prescribed liter flow should meet the middle of the ball. You should be at eye-level with the flow meter when making adjustments.

Attach the cannula to your nose and ears.

Attach to your face so that the nasal prongs are pointing downward as they enter the nose. The first 30 days of oxygen use can irritate the nasal passages until the tissues get used to the flow of oxygen into the nose. If irritation develops, you can use an over the counter water-based gel (such as KY Jelly or Lubefax) on the nose to relieve discomfort. If you experience continued nosebleeds, contact your doctor.

Bring the cannula over and behind your ears, then back to the chin.

Secure under the chin as tightly as is comfortable for you.

Always have a spare cannula and connecting tube available.

If you are not using your oxygen, be sure to turn the concentrator off.
