If there is a power outage or if you're having trouble with your concentrator, use your backup oxygen cylinder.

Open cylinder valve by turning the valve handle to the left one full turn.

Adjust the flow to your prescribed level.

Attach cannula to the flow meter.

Secure your cylinder at all times. Oxygen cylinders that are in use need to be secured in the base so that they don't fall over. If the cylinder were to fall on something (or someone) it would cause damage due to the weight of the cylinder. The valve could also be broken off, and the pressure coming out could cause the cylinder to shoot around the room.

When traveling in the car, secure the cylinder with a seatbelt.

When not in use, cylinders must be stored flat or secured in a rack, and away from any heat source.
