Record Attendance at Wheelchair Daze

Record Attendance
at Wheelchair Daze

On August 5, disabled people and their families came to Independence Oaks County Park in Clarkston in record numbers to enjoy a beautiful day in the park. The park was host to the 20th Annual Wheelchair Daze Picnic, sponsored by Wright & Filippis. Everyone was treated to a barbecue lunch, games, boat rides, face painting and other barrier-free activities.

In addition to the events, Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson delivered a speech dedication a gazebo and six benches in honor of Wright & Filippis founder, Tony Filippis Sr., and his family.

This year's Wheelchair Daze event also marked the introduction of a new barrier-free picnic area at Independence Oaks -- this is the first facility of its kind in Michigan.
