W&F is Newest Partner in Lions' Den
Detroit Lions Sponsorship

Fans needing special assistance at Ford Field will receive a boost from Wright & Filippis. W&F and the Detroit Lions have teamed to provide football fans with the best possible accommodations on NFL game days this season.

The unique partnership began late last year when the Lions initiated plans to equip the new 65,000-seat stadium's first aid stations. Needing a wide variety of medical products, the Lions turned to Wright & Filippis.

"We wanted to work with a company with a strong reputation in the healthcare field – with someone that we could trust to provide us with everything we could possibly need to assist our fans," said Mark Cheklich, the Lions' Director of Sponsorship Sales. "In this area, we knew that if you're needing something for healthcare, you call Wright & Filippis – and that's what we did."

"Fortunately, they were willing and able to provide what we needed, and we've been able to develop a unique partnership that has been a win-win-win situation – for Wright & Filippis, for the Detroit Lions, and for our fans."

In addition to providing equipment and supplies for each of the six first-aid stations, Wright & Filippis serves as the sponsor for the Disabled Seating Sections of Ford Field. W&F also provided the wheelchairs used throughout Ford Field by visitors who require special assistance once they've arrived at the stadium.

"We knew that the Lions had gone to great lengths to assist people with disabilities, and we wanted to be in a position to closely monitor the amenities for the disabled and perhaps suggest ways those features could be improved," said W&F President
A.J. Filippis.

While any facility the size of a football stadium can present its share of challenges to people with disabilities, the Lions made special efforts to exceed the minimum expectations mandated by the Americans with Disabilities Act. In fact, the Lions included leaders in the disability community in every stage of the construction process, from the original architectural blueprints to the opening-game product. Their input was vital in building a stadium that would be more than accessible to fans – Ford Field is intended to be the premier sports venue for ALL spectators.

"We saw this as one more opportunity to help people with disabilities," Filippis said. "That, really, is our foremost mission."
