A Special Gift from Wright & Filippis
An 11-year old boy is getting the leg he needs, courtesy of one Wright & Filippis prosthetist. Altof Zahoor and his father traveled to the U.S. from Pakistan in February 2001, so he could receive treatment for a condition called Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency (PFFD).
When Zahoor arrived in the United States, he met with surgeons and with Wright & Filippis Prosthetist Steven Hoover. After two surgeries, Hoover fit Zahoor with a prosthetic leg. The leg is adjustable to allow for growth and can be easily maintained by Zahoor's prosthetist when he returns to Pakistan. Hoover will maintain care while Zahoor remains in the United States.
