Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Bank Marathon -
Wright & Filippis Disabilities Division

Sunday, October 5, 2003. Wright & Filippis proudly sponsors the Disabilities Division of the Detroit Free Press/Flagstar Bank Marathon. For nearly 60 years, Wright & Filippis has been a leader in the rehabilitative healthcare field with offices throughout Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. The company's longtime dedication to individuals with disabilities is reflected in its efforts to provide every athlete with an opportunity to compete in a marathon.

The Wright & Filippis Wheelchair Division features four competitive classes (Open, Quad, Women's and Master's). The generous prize structure – combined with the tireless efforts of the event's impressive team of volunteers – continues to make Detroit a popular destination by wheelchair athletes from across the country.

In 2002, Wright & Filippis expanded its involvement by introducing the Hand Cycle Division. Conducted as an exhibition event its first year, the Hand Cycle Division is now a regular part of the marathon. The Detroit Free press/Flagstar Bank Marathon is one of the only marathons in the country to award prize money to hand cyclists – further demonstrating Wright & Filippis' ongoing commitment to athletes with disabilities.
