Hall of Fame Continues Growth
![]() This is sure to be a banner year for the Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame recognizes incredible achievement by athletes with disabilities who also serve as positive role models in their communities. To date, over thirty athletes representing over twenty sports are Hall of Fame inductees. With new Executive Director, Terri Herman, the organization is poised to focus on growth and outreach during 2003. New outreach programs are planned to improve awareness for individuals with disabilities regarding sports, fitness and recreation activities as well as general education programs for the public-at-large. The Hall of Fame will be partnering with dozens of organizations statewide in a variety of events to maximize our impact this year. The Hall of Fame's cornerstone event, the Awards Gala to honor the 2003 inductees will be held on October 2, 2003, at The Ritz-Carlton, Dearborn. Jud Heathcote, former Michigan State University Men's Basketball Coach, will be the Honorary Chairman and featured speaker. Wright & Filippis founded the Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame in 1999 and the current Hall of Fame Board of Directors represents various aspects of the community serving the disabled.
