Cedar Brook Trout Farm
The fish were biting like crazy at the annual Fishing Derby for the Disabled at the Cedar Brook Trout Farm in Harrisville, MI. "Not even the rain could dampen the spirits of those who attended," said Michelle Taliaferro, manager of the Wright & Filippis in Alpena. The event, held on July 15, 2003, was sponsored by Lake Huron Sportfishing, Inc. Wright & Filippis donated the fish that stocked the pond for the fishing derby, as well as providing a tent for the food and shelter from the rain.
Participants had a great time at the 2003 Fishing Derby for the Disabled.
Alpena prosthetist Joe Kuerth attended the event with Michelle and her son. This is the second year that the fishing derby has been held at a trout farm. There were 122 people plus their caregivers who participated in the free event, which included a half day of fishing and a picnic lunch.
