New News for Diabetics

Roche diagnostics has changed the Accu-Check Advantage monitor. The new monitor is smaller for easy handling and includes a 480-test memory and automatic 7, 14, and 30 day averaging. A new feature of the monitor is a setting to warn the patient if the results indicate hypoglycemic, however; please remember that hypoglycemic alone is not a qualifying diagnosis for any insurance. The Accu-Check Advantage also has a new battery which is a 3 volt disc and the unit only calls for 1 battery. The time and date settings will not be lost when changing the battery, as with the previous model.
This may not seem like big news to the average person, but to our diabetic patients, these small changes can and will help make their life challenges a little easier. Please be sure to pass this information along to your staff and patients.
