Facility Spotlight:
Port Huron

As a new feature in the Communicator, we will be highlighting various Wright & Filippis facilities. For our first Facility Spotlight, we'd like to introduce you to the Port Huron facility. Wright & Filippis first moved into the Port Huron area in 1998, and after outgrowing their original office, they moved to their current location in 2001.

Managed by Mark Hershberger, the staff of 12 operates a full-service facility with a complete range of services - prosthetics, orthotics, home medical equipment, respiratory, and wheelchairs. They have an in-house prosthetics and orthotics lab and their own warehouse.

"Business has definitely increased since we moved to this location, and our notoriety is up," said Hershberger. "We are very involved in the community, which provides a springboard in getting to know the people and our referrals."

The Port Huron facility sponsors several community events, including Tailgate for Tots in conjunction with the Center for Independent Living, and a wine tasting event with Mercy Hopital. In its first year, Tailgate for Tots provides families in need with toys, clothes and food for the holidays. The event, held at Damon's restaurant during a Detroit Lions football game, includes food, a raffle, and a silent auction.

The 3rd annual wine tasting event raises money for The People's Clinic, which helps people who cannot afford health insurance.

The Port Huron facility is located at 4146 24th Ave. in Fort Gratiot Twp. If you would like additional information regarding the events in which they are involved, please call (810) 385-6330.
