AmpuTeam Basketball Challenge
A charity basketball game between the AmpuTeam Spartans and Providence Hospital's PM & R Department was held on April 28, 2005 at Keller Middle School in Royal Oak, Michigan. The game raised $1,046 for Providence's Special Equipment Fund, which provides rehab and health care equipment for those patients without health insurance and the ability to pay.
The AmpuTeam Spartans are a team made up exclusively of amputee patients of Wright & Filippis. The Spartans' team goal is to raise money for local rehab departments while showcasing the benefits of Wright & Filippis' AmpuTeam Prosthetics Program. And, while the game was a resounding success, the challenge between the AmpuTeam Spartans and Team Providence is just the beginning.
"The first game has generated significant interest from other hospital systems who wish to participate in future basketball games," added Brad Shebib, MPT, Wright & Filippis' Prosthetic Gait Specialist.
The next charity basketball event will be held on July 28 at Keller Middle School. Look for flyers at all Wright & Filippis locations in the coming weeks as well as updates on our website, www.amputeam.com. We'll look forward to seeing you there, cheering on the Spartans!
