WELCOME
to the July/August edition of the
Online Communicator

Welcome to the July/August edition of the Communicator. It's hard to believe that the summer is already half over - how time flies! We at Wright & Filippis have just wrapped up one of our big summer events - the Gene Filippis Memorial Golf Benefit. This event raised funds for three deserving organizations - American Diabetes Association, Saginaw Community Foundation Boundless Playgrounds, and Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame. We would like to thank all of the sponsors and volunteers who helped to make this event a success. For all the details and list of sponsors, please be sure to read the full article.

Another event of note is the Ann Arbor Art Fair, held at the end of July. Wright & Filippis is providing wheelchairs for use by patrons of the art fair who need assistance, and will be available free of charge.

Wright & Filippis has also donated wheelchairs to Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The wheelchairs will be used in the hospital's emergency room.

Orthotists with Wright & Filippis are working on special bracing for patients with spinal cord injuries. These customized braces help support the wearer in a standing position, but have unlocking hinges allowing the patient to sit. Please read the complete article to find out the advantages of using this type of brace.

Some other items featured in this edition of the Communicator are updates from the Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame, who is holding its second-annual golf outing in August; Wright & Filippis' AmpuTeam program held an amputee basketball game in April and has plans for a second game in late July; and congratulations to Chet Kuskowski, a Wheelchair Technician at the Flint facility who recently received special honors from the National Polish American Sports Hall of Fame.

We hope everyone enjoys the rest of the summer!

As always, we welcome your feedback.
