It's time to get the golf clubs out and start practicing your swing! The 21st Annual Gene Filippis Memorial Golf Benefit is right around the corner. This year, the proceeds will be divided among three organizations - American Diabetes Association, Saginaw Community Foundation Boundless Playground, and the Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame.

American Diabetes Association - The proceeds will primarily be used to support Project Power, a year-round educational program of the ADA's African American Program. Its mission is to increase awareness about the seriousness and prevalence of diabetes among African Americans, to emphasize the importance of early detection and treatment through regular visits with healthcare providers, and to utilize preventative measures in communities at risk for diabetes.

Saginaw Community Foundation Boundless Playground - This organization seeks to build playgrounds that can be enjoyed by both children with disabilities and their families. The proceeds from the Golf Benefit will help with the cost of building a Boundless Playground in the Saginaw area.

The Filippis Foundation (formerly the RRC) is generously donating its portion of the proceeds to the Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame's stated mission is to honor Michigan's athletes with disabilities who have demonstrated achievement in sports and are positive role models in the community, as well as to education the public about sports for the disabled.
