Wine Tasting Events
Wright & Filippis recently sponsored two wine tasting events, in the Port Huron area and in Saginaw. Each event was attended by 250 guests and they raised a combined total of over $27,000.
Vineyards of the World
Guests of the Vineyards of the World event enjoyed featured wines from various countries of the world. Varieties included Merlot, Port, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah/Shiraz, and sparkling wines. Each type of wine was accompanied with food selected to enhance the guests' wine tasting experience. The proceeds from this event, which was held at the Fore Lakes Golf Club in Kimball, benefited The People's Clinic for Better Health. This organization is a collaborative project in St. Clair County, supported by the St. Clair County Medical Society and Mercy Hospital. Through The People's Clinic, medical care and referral services are available for those who lack the resources to pay for their care.
A Taste of the World Adventure
This event, held at the Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw, featured a cruise ship theme. Guests enjoyed wines at five different "ports of call" - Italy, Spain, Germany, Ireland, and United States (Napa Valley). Wine and beer from each of these countries were served along with accompanying foods native to those areas. Two organizations will receive proceeds from this event - Field Neurosciences Institute (FNI) and Michigan Sports Unlimited.
FNI will receive a portion for its "Buckle Your Brain" program. This program educates children throughout Michigan on the importance of wearing a helmet during certain activities to protect the brain. FNI's mission is the prevention, early diagnosis, care and cure of neurological diseases, disorders and injuries.
Michigan Sports Unlimited was established in 2002 and is dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles through sports and recreation. Their mission is to educate, instruct and provide unlimited access to a wide range of recreational activities in order to improve the physical, social, and mental well-being of individuals with disabilities and ultimately empower them to achieve success.
