Bond Center Rocks!
Two years ago, Tony Filippis, Sr. gave the staff of Wright & Filippis a challenge at our annual employee appreciation weekend. He asked us if we could each donate a small amount of time or money to assist others in need the way the company did. The staff at Bond Center, led by the Delivery Technicians, responded in a big way. Through a series of meetings and discussions, we decided to work the concession stands at the Palace of Auburn Hills. An organization affiliated with the Palace allows non-profit groups to earn monies by volunteering their time. Each department at Bond Center had staff participate. In fact, the Highmark folks volunteered at a very high rate. We all had fun and earned $2,628.79 over several months. Then came the hard part; we needed to reach a decision regarding where the money would be donated. The group decided to route the monies through the Filippis Foundation. Our first donation was $1,000 to the Red Cross Tsunami Relief fund, which was matched by Wright & Filippis. We decided to wait until we could agree on another worthy cause when Hurricane Katrina hit. The employees at Bond decided to donate the balance of $1,628.79 to the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief effort. Again the company matched our donation. In all, the employees at the Bond Center donated, with the matching Wright & Filippis funds, $5,257.59! I am so very pleased to be associated with this fine effort by the employees of Bond Center. What a great way to respond to Tony's request to give a little. |
