A Wonderful Display of Charity,
Good Will and Great Fun By Brad Shebib
So close!! The AmpuTeam Spartans took the court again on October 6, 2005 in a game against the Beaumont Hospital All-Stars. Unfortunately, unlike last time when we beat Providence by one point, the outcome of this game was a one-point loss against our guys, 34-33. It was a hotly contested game that went down to the last play again, but we came up just short on the court only. In what is becoming a wonderful display of charity, good will and great fun, the AmpuTeam Basketball Challenge successfully raised nearly $3,500 to be donated on behalf of Wright & Filippis and Beaumont to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Relief. Each game we play will raise the bar for future events in our attempts to raise awareness of amputee abilities, foster relationships with local hospitals, and raise money for most worthy charities. I would personally like to thank everyone associated with the game for all their hard work and assistance in making the game possible. What a great time everyone had, and it couldn't have happened without the help of each and every volunteer. We will look to make future AmpuTeam Basketball Challenges bigger and better, but the fun and enthusiasm showed at this event will be hard to top! If you get a chance, say a big thank you to the Beaumont Hospital physical therapy staff for all their hard work and help making the event such a success. See you on the court in the future, and Go Spartans!!
