Sunrise Medical is a major supplier of wheelchairs for Wright & Filippis. Recently, the W&F Rehabilitation Technology Specialists (RTS) were invited, with Sunrise President Carey Winkel, to tour Delphi as guests of Sunrise. Delphi, with headquarters in Troy, Michigan, is a world leader in mobile electronics and transportation components and systems technology. They have been working on engineering and design improvements for Sunrise's power wheelchair electronics, taking electronics to a whole new level. The group from Wright & Filippis is one of the first groups from the outside to see this new technology being developed. This puts Wright & Filippis, through their relationship with Sunrise, on the cutting edge of new technology.

In addition to the business relationship, Sunrise Medical has also been a major contributor to the Gene Filippis Memorial Golf Benefit and the Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame. "Sunrise has always been there for us," said Ed Spring, Head of Wright & Filippis' Rehabilitation Wheelchair Department. "We appreciate everything they've done for us."

Most recently, Carey Winkel presented a check on behalf of Sunrise Medical to Wright & Filippis and Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame Founder, Tony Filippis, Sr., in the amount of $7,000. The money will be used for the purchase of a trailer for the Hall of Fame. This trailer will be used to transport wheelchairs and handcycles to various events and expos, in an effort to increase awareness about sports for the disabled.

"The wheelchairs and handcycles will be taken to various events so people can gain exposure to the new equipment," said Chet Kuskowski, RTS, Wright & Filippis. "They will also have the opportunity to utilize the equipment through events such as handcycle clinics."

In addition to the donation for the trailer, Sunrise donated two all-court wheelchairs and two Shark handcycles for use with the trailer.

"We've partnered with Sunrise to meet the need of our clients, but they go above and beyond with their support of our other events," said Spring.

Wright & Filippis is fortunate to have partnerships with companies such as Sunrise Medical, and look forward to continued success together.
