Which Monitor is Right for You?
We are pleased to announce that Wright & Filippis will be able to provide four choices in glucose monitors. They are the Accu-Chek Advantage, Accu-Chek Compact, One Touch Ultra, and the newest glucose monitor that we will carry is the Accu-Check Aviva monitor. "We are excited to provide the Aviva monitor to our patients," said Virginia Redmond, director of Central Supply. "It is a great option for people who are interested in alternate-site testing, and it is very fast and easy to use." The new Accu-Check Aviva system provides the user with a reliable five-second test time and only requires a minimal 0.6 microliter sample of blood. The Aviva is an alternate-site testing system with the capabilities to provide accurate results when testing in six sites such as the palm, forearm, upper arm, calf, thigh, or fingertip. The Accu-Chek Aviva system uses the Aviva test strips, which are a wider, touchable strip making it easier for patients of all ages to handle fills on the very first time, reducing the need to retest. The Aviva system uses the Accu-Check Multiclix lancet device. The unique lancet device features a pre-loaded, six-count lancet drum, which means there are no lancets for the patient to see or handle. The lancet is made with a high-quality silicone coating for a smoother entry and is a comfortable 28-gauge that provides minimal pain in testing. The safe drum design also minimizes accidental finger sticking when handling the lancets. The Aviva also only requires one 3-volt lithium battery.
