Disabled Sports Goes to Extremes

Wright & Filippis' AmpuTeam program is the Official Sponsor of the O & P Extremity Games by College Park. The games are the vision of College Park Industries president Eric Robinson and his colleague Stephanie Wallace, as an X Games for amputees. The games are open to anyone with limb loss or limb difference, 13 years of age and older, and any experience level from beginner to advanced.

"Wright & Filippis and AmpuTeam think this is a great program," said Ken Woodward, Wright & Filippis' Director of Prosthetics. "We want to show our support by sending amputees down to Florida to compete in the events."

Currently, there are seven athletes who will be going to compete on behalf of AmpuTeam. The three-day event features four extreme sports - BMX bicycling, wakeboarding, rock climbing, and skateboarding - which will all run consecutively and will be held in Orlando, Florida at the end of July. In addition to the competition, there will be several special events, including sports exhibitions and instructional clinics. In addition to participants, College Park Industries is expecting about 1,000 spectators to attend the O&P Extremity Games.
