Bond Center The Bond Center facility, located in Rochester Hills, is the heart of Wright & Filippis. It is the largest home medical equipment distribution center in the mid-western United States. Employing over 180 people, Bond Center houses ten departments. Although patients aren't seen at this facility, they certainly have a presence here. The Bond Center staff performs third party administration through DMEnsion Network and DMEnsion Benefit Management; respiratory care; central intake for home medial equipment for Metro Detroit; central supply for all of Wright & Filippis; as well as maintaining the central warehouse and delivery of home medical equipment throughout the northern two-thirds of Metro Detroit. DMEnsion Benefit Management (formerly ABP), was started in 1992 with only three employees and serviced DaimlerChrysler in Michigan only. Now, 14 years later, they service over 3.5 million members. DMEnsion Benefit Management now services DaimlerChrysler, Ford, MPSER, PEBTF, MPB, STOMI, Assurant and Coalition America. There are also over 2,500 providers in their nationwide network. Manager Gerry Mato oversees a staff of 31 hardworking individuals - his customer service representatives handle over 16,000 calls per month and the claims department processes over 7,000 claims per week. As the largest HME distribution center in the Midwest, our 22-member Distribution group operates 16 delivery vehicles each day, which go out to other Wright & Filippis facilities as well as to patients' homes.
"Four of our delivery professionals are responsible for servicing other Wright & Filippis facilities and the other 12 delivery technicians service the respiratory and home medical equipment customers in the Metro Detroit area," said Distribution Manager, Tom Hopkins. "All of this totals about 2,900 deliveries and 29,000 miles traveled each month." The three full-time employees in the Oxygen Transfilling area (also part of the Distribution group) systematically clean, inspect, fill and test the gaseous and liquid oxygen cylinders for distribution. The average production in this area is around 14,000 cylinders each month. The transfilling group performs over 85% of the oxygen transfilling needs of the company. Additionally, the Respiratory department sets up over 40 oxygen setups per month.
Those products are stocked in the Inventory Warehouse, where manager Ernie Taylor oversees all of the shipping and receiving needs of Wright & Filippis, including items that need to be sent between facilities as well as shipping items such as diabetic supplies to patients' homes. The Central Supply department provides the diabetic, ostomy and urological supplies and adult briefs. Director Virginia Redmond oversees a staff of 38 dedicated employees and two supervisors. Over half of her employees have worked in the department for five years or more. The two supervisors, Vicki and Michele, have been with Wright & Filippis for over 10 years.
Central Supply handles an average of 1,200 calls each day and fills 16,000 orders each month. "We have a very busy department and many dedicated individuals. I feel very lucky to have such a wonderful staff," commented Redmond. Central Intake services over 180 home medical equipment orders each day and processes and average of six CPAP orders a day. What's more, the Repair department maintains the largest fleet of rental equipment of any non-national home medical equipment company in the Midwest.
"We have a great, hard-working group. We are a department that is able to work together as a team to accomplish our daily tasks," said Michelle Newbold, supervisor. "Everyone is always willing to pitch in and help each other when needed." |
