Ferndale
Welcome to the Ferndale facility, another new addition to the growing Wright & Filippis family. This facility, originally located in Detroit as Wright & Filippis' oldest location, is now in one of Metro Detroit's new hot-spots.
Since opening on November 18, 2005, the 6,400 square foot facility has been a welcomed addition to the city of Ferndale.
"We love being in Ferndale – we're right in the middle of everything," said Nancy Briggs, supervisor. "The community is much more involved here and we enjoy being able to get out and be a part of that."
"Everyone is happy with this location. It's beneficial for our referrals as well as our patients to have easy access to I-696," added manager Kurt Schlau. "The patients also really like the openness of this building."
Schlau oversees a staff of 12: Nancy, supervisor; Aurielle, Britt, Iilya, Tonya and Wendy, Customer Service Representatives; Debra and Latosha, Mastectomy Fitters; Jennifer and Karen, Orthotists; and Carolyn and Mike, Prosthetists.
"This is a beautiful facility, but it's not the building that makes the job worthwhile - it's who you work with," commented Schlau. "We're very fortunate to have such a dedicated and loyal group. All of our employees have been with us for at least three years. They all work hard but have a lot of fun."
"Everyone enjoyed coming to work before we moved, but being in this bright, new building has lifted everyone's spirits," added Briggs.
The staff is beginning to get involved in the local community by taking part in the Boys & Girls Club Walk held at William Beaumont Hospital - Royal Oak, and they are all looking forward to the Woodward Dream Cruise this summer.
