The 27th Annual Wheelchair Daze Picnic Wright & Filippis staff and family members are now preparing for the 27th Annual Wheelchair Daze Picnic! The day promises to be great fun for people with disabilities and their families. The day includes boat rides, carnival games, music, and many other fun activities. We will also provide a barbecue lunch and snacks. The Wheelchair Daze Picnic will be held at Independence Oaks County Park in Clarkston, on Saturday, August 4. You can register by visiting www.firsttoserve.com.
This will be the third year that the Wright & Filippis summer camp, Camp YesICan, will be open to kids with artificial limbs. The week-long camp aims to build courageous, confident and self-sufficient children to lead productive lives through traditional camping experiences. Activities will include biking, hiking, swimming, sports, arts & crafts, games, fishing and more! Amputees ages 4-17 are encouraged to attend and are given the opportunity to learn new skills. Camp YesICan is held at the Bay Cliff Health Camp, which is located on 170 acres of land along Lake Superior near Big Bay, in Marquette County, MI. Bay Cliff Health Camp was established in 1934 to promote the health, welfare, happiness, and development of children in the Upper Peninsula. Every child who attends will learn that with their prosthesis, there are truly no limits. Sponsored by the Bay Cliff Health Camp, The Filippis Foundation, and the Wright & Filippis prosthetic department, the camp will run from Sunday, August 19th until Saturday, August 25th. For additional information about Camp YesICan, please contact camp coordinator and Certified Prosthetist Lynn VanWelsenaers at (906) 228-6930. |
