Michigan Health & Rehab Conference
Wright & Filippis, The Filippis Foundationsm, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan held the 2007 Michigan Health and Rehab Conference on Friday, April 20th at the Troy Marriott. The dynamic interdisciplinary program addressed the multiple issues facing our rehabilitation patients and those caring for them and their families. The conference was sold out with over 300 in attendance.
Other speakers included: Beth King, RN, BSN, MA, CCM, Department of Veterans Affairs, who discussed "Patient Safety and Human Factors Engineering", David R. Campbell, MA, CRC, Vocational Consultant, Workers' Compensation Agency, who discussed "A Healthy Approach Towards Vocational Rehabilitation", and Herbert Malinoff, MD, FACP, FASAM, Pain Recovery Solutions, PC, spoke on how to identify the diagnostic approaches to chronic pain and chemical dependency. Additional speakers were Patrick Beecher, MD, MPH, FACOEM, Group Medical Director, GM Corporation, who was there to discuss "The Basics of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Recordkeeping"; Page Graves, JD, and Timothy Smith, JD, presented the "Top 10 biggest mistakes in Adjusting Claims: A Plaintiff Attorney's Perspective." Sarah B. McDade, MD, Strive Joint & Health Center, spoke on the "Functional Rehabilitation of Shoulder and Neck Conditions." Teresa LaRosa, RN, CCM, CRRN, CDMS, TLR Rehabilitation Consulting, LLC, discussed "Ethical and Professional Issues in Case Management: Policing out Practice", and Wayne Miller, JD, presented "Auto No-Fault Issues and Updates." Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan approved the program for 6.5 contact hours. Credits were given to the attendees who completed the entire program and evaluation form. This year's conference was a soldout success. Next year's conference is already set for Friday, April 18th at the Sheraton Hotel in Novi and promises to be bigger and even better! |
