Detroit Science Center Welcomes Wright & Filippis

The Detroit Science Center opened its doors early on Friday, March 16, 2007 for the Wright & Filippis® prosthetic and AmpuTeamSM staff. Employees had the privilege of viewing the Our Body: The Universe Within exhibit before it was open to the public for that day. This amazing exhibit exposes the inner workings of the human anatomy through displaying real human bodies that have been tastefully preserved in a process known as plastination. This is a process in which the body's water and fat are replaced with reactive plastics. All tissues are preserved down to the microscopic level. Everyone was taken aback with knowing that they were experiencing something that normally only doctors and scientists get to see.

When asked what they thought of the exhibit the staff simply replied, "Awesome!"

Employees were then welcomed into the Detroit Science Center's Earth Sciences Classroom where the quarterly prosthetic staff meeting was held. Ken Woodward, CPO led the forum. It gave prosthetists from all locations an opportunity to share the happenings of their office and to discuss the latest technology in the field. Wright & Filippis will be donating a prosthetic display to the Science Center and would like to thank Kevin Prihod, CEO of the Detroit Science Center and its staff for their hospitality.
