Have you ever found yourself struggling to stay awake during a meeting? More importantly, have you felt like you could just dose off while driving? These are just a couple of warning signs you may need to recognize a lack of sleep, which in many cases is caused by Sleep Apnea. What people fail to realize is sleep is a basic necessity of life. It is as important as food, drink and air. Yes... its' sleep. But the real question is, are you getting enough sleep? If not, what can you do to correct the problem? The Better Sleep Council has officially designated the month of May as "Better Sleep Month". This helps to bring sleep disorders to light, including obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a condition that afflicts millions of Americans. In this issue of The Communicator, we address the importance of getting a good night's sleep. If you simply suffer from poor sleep habits, then the recommendations in this newsletter should be of some help. If you struggle to get the sleep you need and experience any of the symptoms outlined in this issue, please see your doctor. There are many options and treatments available, particularly for people suffering from OSA. Your doctor may ask you to undergo a sleep study which will help determine the best course of treatment. Here at Wright & Filippis, we can provide qualifying OSA patients with the proper equipment needed to treat this condition. Like eating, drinking and breathing, getting the proper quantity and quality of sleep is vitally important to everyone. So please remember, it's entirely possible that if you don't snooze, you lose! Sincerely, A.J. Filippis |
