Continuing the Dream

The 9th Annual Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame Induction & Awards Ceremony was held on November 1, 2007. This year's ceremony was dedicated to the memory of its founder Tony Filippis, Sr., also founder of Wright & Filippis.

Held at the Marriott Hotel in Troy, MI, the crowd of approximately 450 gathered to honor the outstanding achievements of athletes and community leaders who have achieved their goals and have inspired future generations to do the same. "Big Al" Muskavito from The Motor City's Oldies 104.3 WOMC, served as emcee for the second year in a row. "Big Al" expressed his support while recognizing the true mission of the Hall of Fame. Ted Lindsay, Detroit Red Wings legend, was this year's honorary chairperson and presented the inductees with their awards.

This year the Hall of Fame was honored to have Dave Kiley as the keynote speaker. Dave is one of the most accomplished athletes in the history of disability sports; he is world renowned as the "King of Wheelchair Basketball" and possesses world-class talent in tennis, skiing and track.

The 2007 inductees included James Lagerstrom, Jerry Sarasin, Darryl Waller, Kevin Konfara, who was the Mark "Doc" Andrews Rising Star Award winner and Leonard Paul Sawisch, the Rick Knas Lifetime Achievement Award winner. Thank you to everyone involved in continuing the dream that Tony started
