Knowledge is Strength Wright & Filippis is very proud to offer its True Reflections for Women program for women who face breast surgery. The slogan, "Knowledge is Strength", represents this special program because it exemplifies our belief that the more you know about the options available after breast surgery strengthens a woman's resolve to resume a happy, productive and fulfilling life. According to the American Cancer Society, it is estimated that 207,000 women in the United States will be found to have invasive breast cancer this year alone and about 40,000 of these women will die from the disease this year. For more information, visit www.nbcam.org or www.cancer.org. Wright & Filippis is pleased to offer a free consultation for any woman prior to having breast surgery. They are welcome to visit any of our locations to see the products available to them. We hope that the knowledge gained from a pre-surgical visit may eliminate some of the apprehension regarding their appearance after surgery. The women will walk away knowing they will look like they never had surgery. "We're proud that we can offer such a specialized program for these women," said Wright & Filippis Director of Orthotics, Pam Lupo Filippis. "True Reflections exists so we can offer more than just information and products. We can offer solace, awareness, understanding and compassion for what these women have encountered or will be facing." True Reflections for Women offers products and services to women who have experienced breast surgery. We offer consultations that take place in private fitting rooms by trained female associates. Wright & Filippis offers the newest in mastectomy products available which include full and partial breast forms, bras and camisoles, swimwear, pneumatic pumps and lymphedema sleeves. The Lincoln Park office hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness Open House in an effort to continue raising awareness for National Breast Cancer Month. The event was coordinated by Nancy Hakala, Wright & Filippis Director, and various business partners to raise awareness about breast cancer and the new products that are available. Patients were able to walk in and check their eligibility for products, see new products, and pick up information from W&F soft-good fitters. The following companies were on site at the Lincoln Park location during the Open House: Amoena, Proud Mary, and Trulife. Other locations that hosted Open House events included Clinton Township, Farmington, Flint and Rochester Hills. To show support for the Breast Cancer cause, the Lincoln Park Customer Service Representatives all wore matching breast cancer scrubs (see picture). Also, there was a raffle for a themed basket which included breast cancer socks, pens, blanket, pin, Vera Bradley glasses case, and makeup bag. Thank you to all of those who helped make the Open House events such a success.
