WELCOME
to the Summer/Fall 2010 edition of the Online Communicator
Welcome to the latest edition of the Online Communicator. In this issue, we feature Camp YesICan, a camp designed specifically for children who are amputees. The children are able to experience things they might not otherwise experience and meet new friends who face similar challenges, while learning that, "Yes I Can" do anything!
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we explore our True Reflections program. In this article we discover that knowledge is strength, and Wright & Filippis is here to offer women who are facing breast surgery more than just information and products... we offer awareness and understanding as well. Also highlighted are a few staggering statistics on breast cancer from the American Cancer Society. Record crowds attended the 2010 Michigan Health and Rehab conference in April and The Wheelchair Daze picnic in August, which marked its largest attendance in its 30 year history! The 26th Annual Gene Filippis Memorial Golf Benefit also had a record year -- thanks to its sponsors, more than $90,000 was raised for local charities. Community involvement is in the spotlight! The Lincoln Park facility conducted a local food drive and held a special fundraiser to help those affected by recent weather damage caused by a dangerous tornado. Lincoln Park also hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness Day where the entire staff wore matching breast cancer scrubs and held a raffle to raise awareness. Event alert! The 12th Annual Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Award Dinner will take place on October 28, 2010 in Troy, Michigan. Each honoree meets strict criteria for integrity and contributions to their community. Please enjoy the latest edition of the Online Communicator. As always, we welcome your feedback.
