Caring still matters. Many people and companies lose sight of this from time to time, particularly when facing difficult financial challenges. That's understandable, to a point. Businesses have to make money to survive, and in that respect, I suppose Wright & Filippis is no different. But the character of our staff is different than most. We say that we are "First to Serve and First to Care", not because it sounds good as an advertising slogan, but because it encompasses our mission to improve the lives of others. The products and services we provide go a long way toward helping people regain their freedom and independence, but we recognize that people need much more. That's why we started the non-profit Filippis Foundation nearly three decades ago, to address issues such as training, education and awareness. That's why annually we host "Wheelchair Daze", a free picnic that gives hundreds of persons with disabilities the chance to enjoy an afternoon of boat rides, carnival games and a barbecue lunch with their families. The Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame, the Extremity Games, Camp YesICan, and the Michigan Health & Rehab Conference are all very visible signs of our company's commitment to improving people's lives. And I'm here to tell you that Wright & Filippis will ALWAYS be committed to this mission. Our company was founded on the belief that people deserve every opportunity to enjoy life, and we intend to continue to demonstrate that every way possible. I'm particularly proud of the efforts our employees make regularly, participating in all kinds of community events and volunteering their time to help others. Our staff, in fact, now holds no fewer than 24 "Jean Day" fundraisers each year to support a variety of nonprofits. Here at Wright & Filippis, caring still matters. And it always will. Sincerely, A.J. Filippis |
