The beneficiaries of this year’s event are Filippis Foundation, Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame, Bay Cliff Health Camp, Wayne State Institute of Gerontology, Youth Leadership Forum, Michigan Victory Games and Region 9 Area Agency on Aging.
Filippis Foundation The Filippis Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Wright & Filippis. It offers a multitude of services, programs and education that allow the disadvantaged and physically challenged the independence to see their dreams turn to reality. Athletes with Disabilities Hall of Fame The Hall of Fame’s mission is to honor Michigan’s athletes with disabilities who have demonstrated achievement in sports and are positive role models in the community, as well as to educate the public about sports for the disabled. | | 8:30pm | Silent Auction Ends | Held each year at Bay Cliff Health Camp, Camp YesICan is created for amputees ages 4 to 17 to discover and believe that "YES, I CAN do anything!" Through traditional camping experiences, the week long Camp YesICan aims to build courageous, confident and self-sufficient children who lead productive lives.Wayne State Institute of Gerontology Established in 1965, the Institute of Gerontology has been a leader in outreach to both professionals and members of the community. As a nationally recognized authority on aging issues, their mssion is to conduct research and to translate the findings to seniors and their caregivers. Youth Leadership Forum (MI Commission on Disability Concerns) The Youth Leadership Forum is a unique leadership training program for high school juniors and seniors with disabilities, Young people with disabilities cultivate leadership, citizenship, and social skills. Michigan Victory Games (MI Disability Sports Alliance) The Michigan Victory Games is a competitive sporting competition for athletes with disabilities. The games have been around since the 1970s and have qualified athletes to continue to compete at the National Sports Festival, the World Games and also the Paralympics. These Games are held each year at Michigan State University. Region 9 Area Agency on Aging (Alpena) The Area Agency on Agine in Alpena serves older adults and persons with disabilities by coordinating services that address their needs and support their independence, dignity and quality of life, and strive to be an effective advocate for the community.
